Dentistry

We all know that prevention is the best approach to keeping our mouths healthy. This is why we recommend a check-up plan tailored to each patient, and a cleaning at least once yearly. We also specialize in the study and treatment of diseases and alterations affecting the teeth, such as cavities and dental fractures, among others.

Orthodontics

Few people have naturally straight teeth that perfectly fit together. For everyone else, there are orthodontists.

Orthodontics is a field with a clear objective: to produce healthy and aesthetic mouths through the use of dental devices (braces) and corrective systems designed to address problems related to the improper positioning of teeth and deviations in their symmetry, thereby improving the mouth's functioning and avoiding problems such as cavities; periodontal ailments; and speech, breathing and eating impediments, and even contributing to solve problems as common as bad breath. The duration of orthodontic treatment depends upon the seriousness of each case. In general, once orthodontic treatment begins patients will come once a month for follow-up visits and progressive changes in the necessary steps to be taken.

Implantology

Dental implants are an excellent option to replace one or more missing teeth.
Implants are made of titanium and are placed in the jawbone so that, thanks to the process of osseointegration, a highly resistant and lasting fusion is produced making possible highly functional and aesthetic oral rehabilitation.

Why should I replace lost teeth?

Normally when one has lost a tooth it is advisable to replace it because its absence affects your bite and ability to chew, although this defect may go unnoticed until one is hindered from eating properly. Dental implants can solve this problem.
When one loses a tooth or molar the remaining teeth take on additional stress, reducing their durability. Dental implants can prevent this.
The teeth adjacent to a missing tooth tend to lean and slant, aggravating their instability. When one’s bite is not stable, the mandible joints are seriously affected. Dental implants stabilize one's bite.
In addition, tooth loss can have a significant aesthetic impact. Dental implants resolve this aesthetic loss too.

How long will the dental implants last?

The duration of dental implants will depend to a large extent on how well one takes care of them, factors including periodic check-ups at one’s dental clinic, harmful habits such as tobacco use, and one’s daily personal care.
At our clinic we only work with top-quality dental implants, and we are able to cite statistics with solid scientific foundations indicating a 95% success rate after 10 years of use, and 80-90% after 30 years.
These figures are comparable to other types of physical rehabilitation measures which require implants, such as hip and knee prosthetics.

How should I take care of my dental implants?

It is important to underscore that a dental implant treatment does not end once one has left the clinic. Rather, it continues with care and treatment at home.
During the rehabilitation process with dental implants we will show you the cleaning process for these prosthetics, which need to be monitored just as your natural teeth would be.
The bone-integrated prosthesis is made up of different elements linked together by precise screws. Over time and due to the “microvibrations” caused by chewing, these screws forming part of the dental implants may loosen. But it is necessary to have prosthetic teeth checked, ideally once every six months, in order to assure their proper functioning and to detect any problems early on, tighten the screws when necessary, monitor the bone and clean the posts.
It is always easier and more comfortable to prevent problems with your dental implants than to treat them after they have developed.

Dental Aesthetics

Dental health is also related to aesthetic knowledge helping you to look your very best. Just like the rest of your body, your teeth and mouth change over time. These changes depend on various factors, but in general the effects of aging on the mouth are:
1. The darkening and loss of translucence and shine on tooth enamel.
2. The wearing and shortening of teeth.
3. Bunching due to the loss of volume in the maxillary region.
4. Loss of volume and smoothness in the lips; wrinkles, lines and sagging around the mouth.
5. The appearance of spaces between the teeth due to the retraction of the gums.
6.  Bad breath.
Modern dentistry offers good solutions to mitigate and delay these changes. Thanks to progress in aesthetic dentistry we can improve your smile with fast, completely painless and incredibly affordable treatments.

Periodontics

This is the dentistry specialization dedicated to gum health and the prevention of gingivitis and other diseases. The word “periodontal” means “around the tooth.” The gums are a type of special skin which surrounds the teeth and covers the bone holding them. They form part of the system supporting the teeth and the jawbone. When gums are healthy the teeth are firm and one can chew properly. In addition, pinkish and well-contoured gums around one’s teeth have a direct impact on how good one's mouth looks.
